This is used as cover glass of a coin detector , customers found out us by searching “Corning Gorilla Glass” last year. We produced the gorilla glass with single side AR coating(T>94%) as clients’ drawing. The glasses was scratched badly because of the back and forth friction. Client has to find new solution again.
They tried many different solutions in next year, Sapphire glass, quartz glass, SCHOTT + lubricating film of glass, but the effect are not ideal. The transmittance of Sapphire is not good; the cost of quartz glass is too expensive; SCHOTT+ lubricating film will produce static electricity, it will absorb the copper scraps on the coin. Finally, end customers find out the DLC(diamond-like-carbon) technology which can meet this application well.
What’s DLC coating? Following is the brief introduction.
DLC coating is applied on glass surface to enhance the glass strength and performance of anti-scratch. The hardness is 9++, it has a more robust feature of anti-scratch and anti-impact.In recent years, the technology of DLC coating has been widely applied in a variety of areas, such as phone, watch and display of high-end products
Why did they ask again once they’ve found out the solution ? In our first cooperation ,we offered customers a professional drawings and inspection report along with samples, meanwhile, all parameters were list on inspection report. These details made a deep impression on client. So they hope we provide the cover glass again.
We start searching and gathering DLC samples from different suppliers. Finally, we find out the one which is the same as client’s sample. Considering the unique features of high transmittance and anti-scratch, we proposed the solution to combine the gorilla glass with DLC together.
Final solution through customer testing, we now already preparing for trial production of small shipments. So take seriously every detail of the customer, we will win 100% customer trust.
