In June and July, one of the main tasks of the GELIVABLE team was the application of adhesives on glass covers. Although this kind of job only accounts for about 10% of the overall sales, however due to the intense rushing of orders in the past two months, the team had to worked overtime at night and weekends to do the adhesive application after completing their routine work in the day.

In fact, many glass factories refused to do adhesive application because it is time-consuming and not profitable. I was thinking while applying the adhesive: Is adhesive application considered a technical job?

Adhesive application may look simple as with a simple training, colleagues in various departments can do it competently. Colleagues in the operations, purchasing and sales department learned it instantly and called themselves the“Adhesive Application Masters”. For adhesive applications with large landscapes, this can be done via equipment, small areas can be assisted with jig, and even smaller areas can be completely via hand. Therefore, adhesive application is a job where practice makes perfect.

On the other hand, since our first order with adhesive application, GELIVABLE not only focused on glass covers, but also conducted in-depth research and improvement on adhesive technology. The following is a summary of some of our experiences:

Strive for excellence: Although adhesive application seems simple, we pursue “fast, accurate and ruthless” in actual operations. The entire process is silent, so that even if it is manual operation, it can be accurately aligned and ensured to be within the tolerance range.

Pollution prevention and control: 3M double-sided tape is easy to attract dust, and it is easy to dirty the window area of ​​the glass cover when applying the adhesive. To avoid this problem, we protect the window area before applying the adhesive to ensure a clean and tidy process.

Double-sided tape design: We have accumulated a lot of experience in the design of double-sided tape profiles. For example, how much should be reserved for the border, how to replace narrow-sided double-sided tape with PET first, how to prevent soft double-sided tape from warping, etc.

Double-sided tape selection: In terms of 3M tape selection, we summarized the characteristics of different 3M tapes through various cases. For example, tapes used with glass and plastic frames, tapes used with glass and metal frames, and tapes with waterproof effects, etc., which help most customers in making their selections a success.

Equipment Improvements: For an efficient and perfect fit, we have also modified our adhesive application equipment, improving overall efficiency and quality.

Through these experiences and improvements, we have accumulated vast technical knowledge. Adhesive application on Cover glass is indeed a technical job that requires professional knowledge and vast experiences. What do you think?
