Nearly Failed to Offer Printing Solution for The Customer

“This color has been very close, and the original ink factory cannot find any solutions. What should we do?”

“Cannot consult with the customer? We had prepared the ink for 2 days already.”

These words are from Gelivable Technical Team in the regular quality meeting.

This is a special glass cover used for industrial computer mouse board. The material is AG glass, the color required the pearl white with a metallic sense. The custom sent color samples from Japan to match the colors of other parts.

When the technician got the color sample from the customer, our team thought that the printing was not easy. White is one of the more difficult to adjust colors in the ink, such as cold white, warm white, apple white, etc. In the current mass production orders, there are various different white.

Enter the formal proofing stage, the first time we made the samples according to the customer’s color sample, and we felt surprised when we finished the samples. One is that the client’s pearl white design is quite beautiful. And the other thing is that the colors we printed are pretty close to the customer’s design. With great confidence, we sent the sample to the customer.

However, the customer’s evaluation result was unexpected-the sample failed. In the evaluation report:

Hue: Too much blue … NG
Brightness: Dimmed … NG
Saturation: OK
Japanese customers are very strict. It’s okay. We can try again according to requirements.

Then, we got the second samples evaluation report:

Hue: Too much red compared to customer’s color sample … NG
Brightness: Dimmed … NG
Transmittance: OK

It’s still NG. Although we felt confident that it was OK before shipment, we didn’t pass the customer’s evaluation.

We still have to continue to adjust and try again. This time, we got the guidance of the technical staff of the original ink manufacturer to keep trying various recipes, different baking times. And after 2 days, compared with the previous samples, there is not many changes. At the quality meeting, there was a dialogue like the beginning of the article,”the original ink factory cannot find any solutions.”Gelivable sales Wendy almost conveyed the original words to the customer, hoping that the customer would accept the sample that we felt was OK.

But never give up is Gelivable team spirit, and the result of the meeting is to adjust again! Try again!

Finally, when the third sample was delivered, the customer said:”今回の色味でOKと致します(The samples confirmed ok for this time).

We often encounter such constant try and confirmation of different customers. We will gather experience from each solution. Every time, we will wait for customers’ confirmation, which means that we finally solved the problems for customers.

This time, the sample of the middle limit is OK, and the next step is the samples testing of the upper and lower limits. Will we finish it very smoothly?

Follow Gelivable, we’ll continue to share more stories next time.
