How to choose gloss when using AG glass for the first time?
AG(anti-glare) glass’s using is the key to solve reflective problems.
However, when using AG glass for the first time, with so many gloss, how to choose the right one? Hundreds of AG glass covers produced by Gelivable are used in various industries. Here are some tips for you to quickly the appropriate gloss.
Let’s first solve the problem of choosing single side or double side.
If it is fully bonded, it is recommended to choose single side.
The difference between single-side and double-side is that there is no change in gloss after single-sided AG bonding. However, after double-sided AG bonding, the AG surface is filled with OCA optical adhesive and loses its anti-glare effect. Only the other side AG surface is left to play its role, and the gloss value will increase by 15~20. The following are the results we measured.
If it is a frame bonding, both single-sided and double-sided are suitable. The gloss is not affected.
Next, we choose the gloss according to different industries. This is a relatively simple method. You can choose the right gloss value according to the different industry.
- Gloss Value 110 , and it’s applicable to automotive industry.
Many customers asked, the gloss of the glass itself is about 125, is the anti-glare effect of the gloss 110 really enough? Gelivable team is also confused about that. We know that the lower the gloss is, the better the anti-glare effect is.We have consulted many customers, but there is no good answer. But AG Gloss 110+AR+AF is the standard in this automotive industry.
- Gloss Value 95, which is applicable to indoor strong light environment, such as medical equipment, ultrasonic projector, cash register, POS machine, bank signature board, etc. Here we mainly consider the relationship between gloss and clarity. That is, the higher the gloss, the higher the clarity.
3)Gloss Value below 70, and it is suitable for outdoor environments, such as ATM, advertising machine, display screen of train platform and engineering vehicle (excavator, agricultural machines) ,etc. Glossiness 70 is a median value, which has good anti-glare effect, moderate fog value and clear screen effect. Currently, most customers used this specification and it is also highly recommended.
4) Gloss Value below 50, and it’s suitable for countries and regions with strong direct sunshine.
Let’s take an example. We have a glass cover for ATM with a gloss of 70, which has been exported to China and Japan since 2008. The specifications have never changed. We always set this standard as the fixed standard for ATM, and we directly recommend this specification for all ATM cases. However, a customer gave us feedback that the samples of gloss 70 cannot reach the anti-glare effect. It turns out that this customer is in a Middle Eastern country and the sun is quite strong, so the gloss of 70 is not enough, and a lower gloss is needed.
5) Gloss value below 35, and it is applicable to touch pad. For example, the computer mouse board and other no display function of touch pads. This kind of product takes advantages of the characteristics “paper-like touch” of AG glass, which makes it smoother to touch and not easy to leave fingerprints.
These are the different gloss values used in different industries, and we hope to help you quickly choose the right AG glass. If you have any other questions, please leave a message to Gelivable.
