Gelivable developed the UV ink solutions passed 1000hrs test successfully

For the past 2 months, Gelivable conducted a very strict UV test by weather accelerator UV Tester . Here is the test standard:Light Source: UVB 313nm Fluorescent, UV Irradiance: 1.23W/m2/nm,Total testing duration: 1,000Hrs,equals to 42 days. As we know, devices used outside always requires to pass the UV test for the operating environment. In the tempered glass industry, we always conduct UV test on ink if the application is outdoor, UV is the short for Ultraviolet Ray.

Gelivable is always trying to meet the needs of customers. We immediately searched for high quality UV ink brands in the market. In the investigation, we learned that the UV test standard for general inks was 0.65W/m2/nm and 96 hours. After comparison, we found that the customer’s standard was much higher. Why the difference? It turns out that the industry attributes are different.This case is used for marine, unlike consumer electronics. These devices will be exposed in the sunlight and bear the test of wind and raining . The general ink will likely appear falling off and discoloration after 1 year’s use in this environment, in the end, it will impair equipment performance .After various data collection statistics and conversion, the customer has developed this strict testing standard.

Since the standard’s confirmation, how to do this test? The first thing that comes to mind is to seek the assistance of a third-party testing institution. One replied that the test was too strict. The samples had to be sent to a foreign laboratory for testing, and the price was as high as 33,000 US dollars. The cost is too high for Gelivable and the client. We continued to look for more cost-effective third parties, and there is a second offer, which can be tested in china and cost 6,000 US dollars. At that time, the Spring Festival holiday was around the corner, no staff from third part would stay, What if power or water supply is off, it’s a question to ensure the test to be done without ceaselessly. Moreover, the customer’s delivery time is in mid of April, test much be finished in March. This matters allow of no delay.

To meet customer quality requirement and delivery time, after an investigation, Gelivable decided to buy UV accelerated weathering tester to finish the high standards of testing in our lab . We also take this opportunity to test performance of different ink brand that against UV. Finally, through the unremitting efforts of the team members, we finish all preparation work before the Spring Festival holiday, and successfully started the test. In order to ensure that the experiment was not interrupted during the lunar New Year, the technical staff had to give up their holidays and went back to the laboratory every other day to check the test.

We also prepared 5 sets of different brand inks for testing, one is a special custom ink by Gelivable. We make cross-cut test in the 500hrs, 750hrs and 1000hrs. Some ink failed in the 500th hours , some failed in 750th hours, such as discoloration, ink peeling off, poor adhesion. The Gelivable custom ink pass the test in the 1000th hours

We have found the ink which can meet the customer’s quality standard through this test, and recorded the results of this test. Practice comes truth.
